May Architects has completed more than 100 residential projects in New York City and the surrounding region. Projects range in scale from individual houses/townhouse and apartment renovations to larger scale projects for institutional clients. There isn't a predominant signature style, but they all tend to be understated. Most of our clients want the final product to look as though the work was part of the original architecture of that particular setting.
May Architects's work has been featured in a number of publications and is highly rated in The Franklin Report, a rating guide of architects, decorators, contractors and suppliers in New York City.
Penny May
Penny established May Architects in 1992. After graduating from the Columbia University School of Architecture, she worked at I.M. Pei and Partners and Alan Wanzenberg Architect. At Wanzenberg’s office she discovered the kind of project that she loves: restrained, quietly luxurious apartments and houses. Penny established her own firm in the Carnegie Hill Neighborhood, where her firm continues to work on projects in this way.
